Choir Update

As we go into our final days of preparation for the concert, I would like to review various items for your information.

SCHEDULE UPDATE:

Remaining rehearsals:           Tuesday, 04 December      7pm at St. Brice’s (replaces last Sunday which was cancelled because of the severe weather warning)

Friday, 07 December         7 pm at Widdifield Secondary School

Saturday, 08 December     1:30pm in the Capitol Centre

Friday’s rehearsal will be with the orchestra in the theatre at Widdifield Secondary School on Ski Club Road .  The best way to enter is through the rear doors…there is plenty of parking at the back of the building.  Saturday’s rehearsal is at the Capitol Centre; enter through the doors off of the parking lot on McIntyre Street West .  I expect both rehearsals to last about one hour.  At Saturday’s rehearsal, you will be given a ticket to the concert which will allow you in to the theatre that evening (balcony reserved seating).

I would like to gather you all together about ¾ through the first half of the programme into the Galaxy Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Capitol Centre…once I see the final order I will let you know when.  We will have a short rehearsal (more of a warm-up) and then proceed to the stage during intermission.  We expect the 2nd part of the programme to be about 40 minutes.  The choir will start off with several pieces, the orchestra will perform several short ones and then we will close with the carols and Messiah.  If standing for that period of time is an issue for anyone, please let me know now so that arrangements can be made for you.

RETURN OF MUSIC: When you signed up for this year’s choir, you paid a $10 music deposit.  Once the concert is over, Cora and Carol will collect your music and refund your $10.  This will be done on stage and I ask that you be patient;  it is a simple matter of just stating your name, turning in your music and collecting your money.   Several people have indicated that they will leave the $10 with Symphony as a donation;  this is fine with us…the Society will issue a charitable tax receipt to anyone who does so.  However, the music must still be returned.

DRESS FOR THE CONCERT:  We will continue with a black-white combination of apparel for all singers: black on the bottom, white on the top.  Ladies: white blouses, black dresses, skirts or slacks; Guys: white shirts, black trousers, no jackets (due to the heat).  The men decided last week by concensus that they would wear “Christmassy” ties this year.  There was also mention of white being absolute white as opposed to off-white, winter white or cream-coloured.  Everyone should bring with them a Santa Hat, antlers or other seasonal accessories to put on during Sleigh Ride.  And a reminder to refrain from using any cologne or perfume at rehearsals or at the concert.

AND, DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE …

Community Christmas Sing-along

The North Bay Symphony and the Davedi Club are hosting a Christmas Sing-along

on Sunday, December 9th starting at 2pm at the Davedi Club on Airport Road .

There is no admission charge…just come on out and have a good time, joining in your all-time favorite Christmas songs (popular and traditional).  If you are a musician, bring your instrument and a music stand (music will be provided).

Rob Palangio will be leading the Sing-along with singers from the Davedi Club and the North Bay Symphony Community Choir.  If you play a guitar, brass, string, woodwind or percussion instrument, bring it along! If you like to sing at home, in the community or even in the shower, come on out.  Some refreshments and goodies will be provided and there will be a silver collection for the Food Bank.

Pass the word around to your family and friends...hope to see you there!

AND AGAIN....THANKS FOR BEING SUCH A FABULOUS AND FUN GROUP!!!
